I was cleaning the kitchen last night when Jake came to me with a serious and yet calm look on his face.
“Mom, I did something bad. Will you forgive me?”
“What did you do?”
“Will you forgive me, mommy?”
I couldn’t imagine what he could have done that could be so terrible.
“Yeah, I’ll forgive you.”
“I spilled my icee push pop on your bed.”
I had warned him a few minutes ago. “Don’t spill it, I don’t want to sleep with the ants tonight.”
“It’s okay, accidents happen. But don’t eat in my bed again, okay?”
“Do you want to see the spill?” He was obviously relieved. “Follow me.”
I followed him into my bedroom. He pointed to me the blue smudges on my bed cover and on one of the pillows.
“Well, I guess I’ll have to wash them.” I took a quick look and left the room to go back to my kitchen duty.
“Mom, do you like the spill pattern?”
I turned around and realized he was following me.
I laughed. You really can’t say this kid isn’t honest or doesn’t have a sense of humor.
So cute! Tell Jake I miss him.
